We have identified Health and education as the foremost needs of our people and we strive to improve these areas by supporting and partnering with charitable organizations working towards a prosperous Pakistan.

WWF Eco-Internship Programme
On the 5th of April, 2011, Lotte became a partner and sponsor of the WWF Eco Internship program.
Established in 1970’s and charged with the responsibility of conserving the important national assets WWF-Pakistan is one of the World’s leading and best recognised conservation organisations. WWF-Pakistan has been working in Pakistan for almost 40 years to conserve nature and ecological processes where mankind coexists with nature in complete harmony. WWF-Pakistan is physically present in 28 different locations across the country.

Health, Safety & Environment
Lotte Chemical Pakistan is a caring and responsible organization which is strongly committed to upholding the highest standard in Health, Safety & Environment. Earlier in 2010, a significant milestone was achieved when the Company crossed 9 million man-hours without a Lost Time Case (LTC), which clearly is an indication of world-class standards and practices being complied at Lotte Chemical Pakistan. This single minded pursuit of excellence is at the foremost in everything we do despite the added costs and the obstacles faced in the Pakistani environment.
Natural disaster: Relief and Rehabilitation
The 2010 floods in Pakistan – which left two thousand dead and over two million injured and homeless ramined the focus of our CSR activities in 2010. Lotte Chemical Pakistan donated Rs 10 million for the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund reaffirming Lotte Chemical Pakistan’s commitment towards the preservation of the local community. This was further augmented by KP Chemicals, the majority shareholder of Lotte Chemical Pakistan and a subsidiary of Lotte Group in Korea, which donated Rs 10 million to the Prime Ministers fund, as part of its contribution towards flood relief efforts.
In addition to corporate donation, all employees voluntarily contributed one day’s salary to this noble cause. As a result of this effort by the employees of Lotte PTTA, the management collected Rs 450,000. These pledged funds were channeled through two humanitarian organizations – Aitemaad Pakistan and the Indus Resource Centre – to make provisions for relief support where it was most needed. Lotte Chemical Pakistan’s fellow employees at KP Chemicals, Korea also voluntarily contributed Rs. 1.1 million.
Collectively Rs 21 million has been contributed by Lotte Chemical Pakistan and Lotte group for the relief and rehabilitation process so far. The group remains committed to continue support in this important area.
Lotte Chemical Pakistan and its employees had also contributed to relief efforts for the catastrophic earthquake that struck the Northern Areas of Pakistan in 2005. Contributions made were also extended to the SWAT IDP fund. Lotte (Parent company) had also donated US$100,000 to the Prime Ministers IDP Fund which goes to exhibit the company’s dedication to proffer its services in times of need.
Our Company has been involved with various other organisations to support community development and encouragement of healthy activities for the youth of Pakistan. We worked with Hisar Foundation, which is an institute that provides a platform for deliberating issues pertaining to the non-availability of water, food and livelihood amongst the poor and seeks relevant solutions for the water-food-livelihood nexus. Lotte Chemical Pakistan joined hands with Hisar foundation and participated in seminars and forums aimed at finding logical solutions to the problems surrounding breaches in sustenance.
As an integrated corporate citizen, Lotte Chemical Pakistan has strived to become further engaged with local communities despite divesting the bulk of our CSR expenditure to flood relief, Lotte Chemical Pakistan continued to support health and education needs in and around Karachi.
LOTTE CHEMICAL PAKISTAN: ASSISTING THE EDUCATION OF THE PAKISTAN’S YOUTH
In an attempt to contribute towards the national agenda of reducing poverty through improvement in the literacy rate, Lotte Chemical Pakistan joined hands with key stakeholders.
Mr. Dong Bin Shin, Vice Chairman Lotte Group, made a donation of US$ 100,000 to National Commission for Human Development (NCHD), which is a government sponsored organization involved with literacy and healthcare activities across Pakistan.
In collaboration with Sindh Education foundation (SEF), Lotte Chemical Pakistan adopted a Government Boys School located at Ghagger Phattak on National Highway and subsequently helped renovate the entire school premises. Lotte Chemical Pakistan regularly distributes free books, uniform and stationary amongst the students and rewards deserving students based on their academic achievements.
Lotte Chemical Pakistan has also worked in cooperation with The Citizen’s Foundation (TCF) which is a non-profit organization geared to raising the quality of education in localities where the literacy rates are disturbingly low. Lotte Chemical Pakistan has adopted a TCF school located in Yousuf Goth, a heavily populated urban slum of Gadap town in Karach near Port Qasim. The school has 150 plus students.
The company has been actively working with Family Education Services Foundation (FESF), a school and training facility for the deaf, in the pursuit of reducing subnormal standards of education even amongst the physically challenged. Lotte Chemical Pakistan is also a regular sponsor of two weeksSummer Camp for over 200 children living in the SOS camp in Malir by supporting the efforts of the FESF.
Other associations included Citizen’s Education Development Foundation (CEDF), which is an independent organization that has been working towards educating the “neglected and forgotten children” on the streets of Karachi by conducting classes on a refurbished mobile bus, transformed into a classroom, in addition to running various home schools in Neelum Colony.
LOTTE CHEMICAL PAKISTAN’S SUPPORT IN THE PROVIDING ADEQUATE HEALTH CARE FACILITIES
In view of encouraging and supporting free medical facilities for the under privileged, Lotte Chemical Pakistan has helped various charitable organizations with the purchase of medical equipment, machinery and the smooth operation of their assorted ventures.
Earlier this year Lotte Chemical Pakistan joined hands with MALC, which is a long-established charitable organisation treating patients suffering from leprosy, tuberculosis and blindness free of cost throughout Pakistan. As part of our CSR program, a donation to procure an ultrasound machine was made.
The company also sponsored an entire day’s Kidney dialysis at the SIUT, which provides free medical treatment for kidney and liver diseases and cancers. Additionally, Lotte Chemical Pakistan has supported Memon Trust Hospital, which provides medical services to citizens belonging to every social stratum, by donating towards one of the OPD clinics at the hospital.

LOTTE PPTA EXTENDS SUPPORT TO THE FLOOD VICTIMS OF MIRPURKHAS REGION AFTER ITS EFFORTS IN BADIN DISTRICT
Karachi: Lotte Chemical Pakistan (Lotte Chemical Pakistan), a subsidiary of one of South Korea’s largest conglomerates operating in Pakistan, after it’s recent endeavors to help flood victims in the Badin District continued its unswerving efforts to help those suffering from the recent floods in Mirpurkhas and adjoining areas.
Asif Saad, CEO Lotte Chemical Pakistan, Lotte Chemical Pakistan Korean Directors and senior Lotte Chemical Pakistan managers along with MNA Mirpurkhas, Mir Munawer Talpur, MPA Mir Babu Talpur and DCO Mirpurkhas, Ghulam Hussain Shah visited the areas of Tando Jan Mohammad, Digri and Jhudo with flood aid supplies.
MNA, Mir Munawer Talpur extended his gratitude towards the Lotte team for its previous relief efforts saying “I am extremely appreciative of the Lotte team for its perseverance in supporting our fellow brothers who are so severely hit by this calamity. Lotte Chemical Pakistan is setting an example for all of us by reaching out to these people through relief efforts.”
Similar to Lotte’s previous visit to the flood affected region of Badin, the team worked with a well-chalked out plan. Identifying specific relief supplies that were the need of the hour were distributed amongst the victims. Relief supplies included food bags each containing Rice, Flour, Sugar, Pulses (Dal), Cooking oil Dry Milk & Tea, sleeping nets to fight the severe threat of dengue and tents.
Speaking on the occasion, Asif Saad, CEO Lotte Chemical Pakistan said “As responsible members of this community we at Lotte Chemical Pakistan believe it is our rightful duty to give back to the society. In our second round to the flood affected areas, we saw how much of a positive difference can be made in the lives of these people only by hearing out their problems and sharing their grief. He added, Lotte Chemical Pakistan would like to extend gratitude to local government officials for facilitating our relief efforts and we hope that this support of the local officials will be received in future initiatives also.”
Giving hope to the despaired flood affected victims; Lotte Chemical Pakistan has so far reached out to over 1,000 plus families that have been affected by the recent floods in Sindh.
Lotte Chemical Pakistan, over the years, has taken considerable initiatives to help build the community and extending a hand of support to the flood victims is one such effort. LOTTE REACHES OUT TO FLOOD VICTIMS AT BADIN DISTRICT
Lotte Chemical Pakistan extends food, tents and medical supplies to flood victims in the Badin District and reached out to the most difficult-to-access areas
Karachi: Lotte Chemical Pakistan (Lotte Chemical Pakistan), a subsidiary of one of South Korea’s largest conglomerates operating in Pakistan has recently taken the noble initiative of extending a hand of help and support to the flood victims of the Badin District. Recently, Lotte Chemical Pakistan employees visited the flood affected areas of Deh Chandaile 2 & 3 and Taluka Tando Bago, in the Badin District.
Giving hope to the despaired flood affected families; Lotte Chemical Pakistan has so far reached out to approximately 475 families. With a well chalked out plan, a list of affected people had been prepared with the help of Mr. Asif Jan Siddiqui, District Division Officer (DDO), Taulka Tando Bago. Based on this list which included names and national ID card numbers of those affected in the area, the Lotte Chemical Pakistan team visited each village, distributing food supplies, medicines and water.
With widespread disease and malnutrition as the two main issues being faced by the flood victims, Lotte Chemical Pakistan distributed food bags each containing Rice, Flour, Sugar, Pulses (Dal), Cooking oil, Dry Milk, Tea, 1.5 Liter Water packs and Biscuits. Various medicines for chest infection, vomiting, diarrhea, painkillers, skin infection ointments etc were also distributed. With the help of local doctors from the Government Hospital, Tando Bago, the Lotte Chemical Pakistan team set up on-the-spot medical camps and provided medication to the flood affectees.
Amongst all other turmoil, the matter of dispersion due to absence of dry ground is the most adverse. Lotte Chemical Pakistan addressed this need by providing tents to flood affected families. Wrecking havoc for the underprivileged masses, the recent floods and rains have left thousands in despair. With inaccessible areas and difficult transport routes, Lotte Chemical Pakistan was the first to reach the villages of Urs Qambrani, Ahmad Jamali, Ghani Dhal, Hadji Alam Jamali and Natha Kholi.
